About the results

The top figure gives the monthly payment for a capital and interest repayment mortgage (i.e. each month the interest is being paid plus part of the capital borrowed - this, therefore, reduces the amount owned on the capital, month by month.)

The second figure shows only the amount of interest due each month. If you opt for an interest-only mortgage, such as linked to an endowment, ISA or pension savings policy then you will need to add the cost of the monthly premiums of the policy to the interest figure shown. When the savings policy matures it is intended to pay off the capital loan.
